Does anyone have an opinion on epiphone??? I thought they were GIbsons NO Frills Brand but it turns out they have been round for a very long time prior to be bought out by Gibson. Would you purchase a Epi over a Gibson?Huh?

cheers

In short....Yes!
Saying that...Most Epiphone Les Pauls  I have played are ordinary in comparison to a USA Gibson, BUT....
every now & then a Sweet one pops up in my hands.   I have had 2 that definitely played as good, & most the
time better than 50-70% of the Gibsons I have played.   One in particular ....a Japan Epiphone ....played, felt & sounded
every bit as good, even better than any of the Gibsons I have ever played...bar one, my Zakk Wylde  Custom Shop Les Paul.

In the end, it really does come down to personal Prefs though.   But for a basic over all comparison in Build Quality, Woods & Electronics....
dont pass up trying out a Korean or Japan Epiphone....there are some nice ones out there.

As for Chinese Epiphones...all depends on wich 16yr old Girl was on the production line in the Factory that day in China....
those nasty Chinese Epiphones...I stay away from, mostly....from experience I have to say.  Lips Sealed
